The Green Market Toronto is an organization that runs small community events where largely local cannabis vendors can share their wares with the Toronto community. For the last few months Green Market Toronto has been running their events in private, but on Wednesday, August 24th, to mark the implementation of the ACMPR, they hosted their first open-to-the-public popup shop. The shop featured Alair Vaporizers, a Canadian company in the high-end reusable THC vape pen market.
Alair’s strong branding and beautiful presentation drew a lot of attention to the store, but didn’t look very out of place in a city that is awash in e-cigarettes.
Once in the store, you were greeted with a vast variety of all things cannabis. The first things on offer were dried pineapple and mango slices, infused with THC, complements of Alair.
The store had tables featuring many of the usual suspects in the cannabis activism community. This included vendors such as Abi Roach’s Roach-o-Rama and Brandy Zurburg’s Queens of Cannabis but also had many vendors who I wasn’t familiar with yet.
There was everything from Minor Cares, a one-woman garden to table cannabis catering service, to Canada Concentrates, an exquisitely branded, nothing but the best extracts company (both of whom were very liberal with their samples). There were even a few companies selling infused spa products from bath balms to massage oils. There were even massages available for those who wanted to experience their oils immediately and professionally.
On the whole, the event was a huge success! It was great to see so many people coming in and experiencing a different side to the industry than they would otherwise see in their everyday life. There is so much potential out there and so many people working to bring medicine to those who need it. I hope these events are able to continue to foster the industry.
If you are interested in attending future events, information can be found on their Facebook and Instagram pages both called GreenMarketTO. They host weekly Sunday markets for free starting at 3pm, and are open to everyone 19+. We hope to see you out at future Green Market events in Toronto.
