Crazy Bill’s in Hamilton

My trip to Crazy Bill’s wasn’t by accident. My friend had recommended it to me as the place where he bought his vaporizer, a Grenco Gpro. I’m glad I made the trek to Crazy Bill’s!

Accessability:

Crazy Bill’s has three locations in the Hamilton area: Downtown, “Up the mountain”, and Brantford (a small town just outside of Hamilton).

I’ll get a chance to cover the other locations in future reviews. Their original location (I think) in Downtown Hamilton is actually a convenience store.

Staff:

On my trip at 8PM on a Wednesday, one staff member was working. She was extremely helpful and had a good working knowledge of the products. I decided to buy a new mouthpiece/atomizer combo for my e-liquid pen. They do have a fairly large selection of this type of product, but it won’t be covered in this review. Unfortunately the one that she directed me to buy wasn’t the best choice… It leaked all over my desk. I’ll be returning to Crazy Bill’s later next week to follow up, and I’ll edit this review accordingly. Edit: Turns out the one I bought had the thread stripped and wouldn’t screw on properly. I brought it in (no receipt) and they replaced it with another. 🙂

Selection:

As soon as we walked in, a bright glass cabinet showcased flagship (read: American/European) brands at premium prices: ROOR, Sheldon Black, Illadelph, Grav Labs and a few others.

While most people walking into the store off the street won’t be in the market for these more premium pieces, it’s nice to see them there. Being started as a convenience store chain, I’m sure the temptation was there to fill the store with high-margin cheaply made products. It was nice to see that this wasn’t the case.

The rest of the store was 3 full walls and cabinets of glassware – A glass head’s paradise. The main glass brands were Red Eye, Ross’ Gold (Olympic Gold Medalist Ross Rebagliati’s brand), and Gear Glass. The rest of the store was, for the most part, filled with no-name stuff: random soft glass and acrylic pieces. This is great for the average consumer,

A certain portion of centre section of the store caught my eye. Crazy Bill’s had a fantastic selection of products for extraction. I don’t know too much about this, but a friend that I was with was extremely impressed.

Of course there were the usual selection of other paraphernalia… bowls, rolling papers, dabbers and accessories.

Crazy Bill’s had a good selection of Vaporizers too, with popular brands like GPen, Pax and Magic Flight Launch Box.

Summary : I like Crazy Bill's a lot. Transitioning the business from being a downtown convenience store to a suburban full-service head shop is definitely something to be applauded. In the "Up the mountain" area of Hamilton, there really aren't too many head shops, so I'm sure they'll do well in this niche.
