Weyburn police raid marijuana dispensary, arrest man

After receiving what it says were citizen complaints about illegal activities since December, on Thursday Weyburn Police Service and its drug enforcement unit executed a warrant on a local business under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Greenleaf Compassion, a marijuana dispensary on Ebel Road in Weyburn was raided and a 33-year-old man was arrested. Police said in a release that the business was, “operating under the guise of a legitimate medical (marijuana) dispensary.”

Charges are expected to include trafficking in marijuana, possession for the purpose of trafficking in marijuana, and possession of the proceeds of crime, police said, adding that additional arrests and charges could be imminent.

The arrested man remains in custody.
