I was not impressed by 647 Medicinals. The staff were not helpful upon initially entering. They were also low on product, with only 5 strains and the one that was recommended had seeds in it. Being located next to so many dispensaries, they need to improve their quality and customer relations.

647 Medicinals Location:

406 Spadina Ave. (College & Spadina)
647 Medicinals is located between College and Dundas on Spadina Ave. This is easy to reach via the TTC street cars and with so many other things going on in the area, it’s great to make a day of it.

647 Medicinals Membership Access:

I was confused at first, but believe I finally figured out how memberships work. 647 Medicinals does not have their own “memberships,” they only accept individuals previously approved by a dispensary/naturopath or doctor. They do not register anyone onsite. Their doors are open 10am – 10pm and operate cash only.

647 Medicinals Pricing & Selection:

647 Medicinals stated that bud selection was low, the day I went in. They had 5 strains available at $8, $10 and $12/gram of bud. They had 3 strains of hash, retailing for $5, $10 and $20/gram. The quality reflected the price you will pay. I was really surprised by the large variety of Phyto extracts with over 10 types for $60/gram. All prices include tax.

I was disappointed in 647 Medicinals top shelf cannabis. I purchased Juicy Fruit for $12/gram and found immature seeds in my medicine. The bud was very fluffy, also indicating that it was harvested early. The effects were decent, but the true potentials of this strain could be unlocked if properly grown to it’s full potential. It’s really disheartening to see seedy bud on the top shelf of a Toronto dispensary.

Unique to 647 Medicinals:

647 Medicinals is the first dispensary that does not have a membership program for their customers and does not sell to the public. Dispensaries like Weed the North don’t have memberships, but sell to anyone over a specific age. 647 Medicinals only accepts individuals previously approved by another dispensary or a doctor. Also unique to 647 Medicinals is it’s the only dispensary or licensed producer to sell bud to me with seeds in it.

647 Medicinals Staff:

When walking in for the first time no one was at the front desk, so I wondered in. There was someone sitting on the couch and an individual behind the counter. I engaged the person behind the counter about signing up for a membership. I later found out the individual sitting down also worked there. I would have preferred if they had said “hello” to me as I walked in and asked how they could help.

I was the only patient there when I entered. Someone else came in as I was browsing, so they helped him or her first. This happened again when I was about to make my purchase. Not the best dispensary if you want attention paid to the details, check out the other dispensaries in the neighbourhood.
